About Me
Representin' the 619 is San Diego's premiere rap group Aztec Tribe. Formed in 1990, Aztec Tribe released their first single "Diegotown" in 1991, which quickly became San Diego's anthem and helped them usher in San Diego's Chicano rap scene in the early 1990s. Their new found popularity allowed them to share the stage with such groups as A Lighter Shade of Brown, Kid Frost, Hispanic MCs, Hi-C, ALT, Aztlan Nation, Proper Dos, Funky Aztecs, Mellow Man Ace, and N2DEEP among others. Their first album, "Viva Chicano" was released in 1992, solidifying them as San Diego's most recognized rap group. "Diegotown" quickly became the most requested song on San Diego's Jammin' Z90. In 1996 they released "Straight From Tha Zone." Their hit song "Everybody Bounce," also became the most requested song on Jammin' Z90 and quickly spread their popularity outside of San Diego. Aztec Tribe went on to tour throughout the Southwest and Mexico. They contributed songs to several compilation albums. In 1999 they released their long awaited album, "Desperados." From this album came several hits, including "Desperados," "Makin' That Money," and "Come and Get It," which also were most requested songs and in heavy rotation on Jammin' Z90. This album allowed Aztec Tribe to gain even more popularity, as they soon shared the stage with notable artists such as Destiny's Child, Eminem, WC, RUN DMC, LL Cool J, Master P, Jayo Felony, Warren G and Nate Dog, Mase, The Alcoholiks, and Psycho Realm, among others. Aztec Tribe's success can be attributed to their loyal fan base, which has always supported them throughout the years. Although Aztec Tribe currently on hiatus, their music lives on through their fans, who continue to bump them wherever they are. Aztec Tribe sends their love and respect to all those fans who have supported them since day one, and will continue to provide all those who are interested, access to their music.
