MyHotCommentsWhere do I start? I was born in Orlando, but raised in Fort Lauderdale. I attended Rock Island Elementary where I develop a passion for singing. I then audition for Parkway School of the Arts and was accepted in the vocal program. At Parkway, I didn't limited myself to just vocal, I was also in the Concert Band and Drama Department. As talented as I was at Parkway, I had a behavior/attitude problem and if I got in trouble once more, I would have been kicked out of the Performing Arts program and sent to my home school. Before that happened I changed schools. My last year of middle school was a William Dandy. I didn't want to be there at first, but it ended up working out. After Middle School at William Dandy, I enrolled at Dillard High School of the Arts. I was involved in a little of everything at Dillard. I was well-known and that sometimes kept me in trouble. I had a blast in High School, and if I could turn back time I would be there now! LOL! My life started drasically changing after High School, because I started finding my true self. I stopped "pretending" to be something I wasn't to keep others happy, or to be "normal". It was time to make myself happy, and for so long I wasn't. Also down the road of finding myself, I lost people whom I though was close to me because of my lifestyle. We drifted from each other, but if its meant to be, GOD will bring us back to being friends again. "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31. The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called SUCCESS! I started being a regular patron at various nightclubs in the South Florida area. This was my first exposure to the female impersonation art form. I saw Sheena Devine Hawkins an after viewing her perform I realized this was what I wanted to do. Sheena became my mother and my stage name became Chanel Devine. Sheena and my sister (Raquel Devine Roberts) prepared me for the weekly competition show at Club Kasmirs in West Palm Beach, FL. I competed and won. That winning led me to perform at various nightclubs in the South Florida area. After winning several talent shows, I decided to take my entertainment to the pageant circuit. My first pageant was Miss Black Palm Beach Newcomer. I recieved 2nd Runner-up. A month later I competed for Miss SunCoast South Newcomer, I recieved 1st Runner-up. My designer saw the desire of fire in my eye became my father and advised me not to give up, and to compete for a Closetball. I travel to Jacksonville, FL and competed for Miss RiverCity Closetball (now Miss Duval Closetball) and I won. While in Jacksonville I ran across Alexis Gabrielle Sherrington. She gave me great advise and under her mentorship CHANEL DEVINE SHERRINGTON was born. I perform at virous nightclubs in the state of FLORIDA and I am well know on in the pageant circuit. I have four kids who I LOVE to death- Antwan, Theo, Arthur, and Lorenzo. Within the next five years I plan to capture at least three National titles. MY TITLES-Miss Duval Closetball, Miss Sweetheart International Closetball, Miss Metro Newcomer, Miss Duval Newcomer, Miss Black America Newcomer, Miss Black Oracle International, Miss Metro, and Miss Duval Universe.
