About Me

What moves me is my music, it keeps me going. Since I can remember, I have always been into music. From childhood I always had a passion for it. I remember my family would have parties, and the Disco and Salsa they would listen to. I couldn’t remember the homework I did the night before, but I always remembered the music. My little boom box was my best friend! The one moment that is will be etched in my mind forever, is one time when I was about 7 or 8-i think-and I was walking to the park and these older cats had one of those big old school pioneer boom boxes with the 4 speakers and they were playing this song I had never heard before-man I was blown away! This was something I hade never heard before, something different like nothing I'd ever known. I went up to them with my little boom box cassette radio and I asked them if I could put my radio close to theirs, so I could tape what they were playing. They looked at me as if I was crazy, but they did and I recorded what they were playing. The song they were playing was Planet Rock. That one song changed everything for me. Naturally, the b-boy movement was in full swing at the time, and that was also a big part of my life. I fell into all the elements of that b-boying, graffiti, and so on. I always hung around older cats and most of them Jed and were into music as well. Being an 80's kid, I was into pretty much all types of music- from 80's rock to hip hop to R&B-you name it, I was listening to it. Especially if it was on MTV! Radio also was also a big influence on me. I would stay up late on the weekends so I could tape DJ Red Alert, Marley Marl and Chuck Chillout, as well as the Latin Rascals. The hip hop sound from that era is timeless, and the songs are classics to this day. I also fell into the freestyle music scene being the true Puerto Rican that I am..... Going to clubs like la mirage ,Heartthrobs and many others hearing djs like Little Louie Vega john “ gungie” rivera working their magic was like nothing I had ever seen. Around that time, I was also listening to Tony Humphries on Kiss FM on the late night. This music was what made me who I am today. If there was one time that totally made me want to become a DJ - it would have to be the first night that I went to Studio 54 to check out Louie Vega-around 1988. He was on fire! He played everything that night but the two records that defined the sound that is NY house was Black Riot "A Day in the Life" and Todd Terry "Weekend". Man, when he played those two records that place erupted like nothing I have ever seen. At that moment I knew that I wanted to do what he was doing. Then came the 90's club scene, which to me was without a doubt the Best time for club music to date. I don’t think anything today can compare to that time. Hip hop music from that era as well, will live forever. Clubs like Sound factory, The Tunnel, The Underground, The Octagon, Red Zone, Emerald City, Homebase, The Muse, Limelight, The Palladium, The Shelter, Ego Trip, The World, Sound Factory Bar, and so many more. These places all influenced me and made me who I am today. Around 1998 I got into the music distribution thing thanks to my boy jay-biz who worked for big daddy distribution and also ran mass vinyl an indie hip hop label with dj shok. Shok was also a big influence as well. I worked at buds distribution an indie label and distributor for a few years selling vinyl all across the world. I moved on to work for unique music which is another distribution company one of the biggest when it comes to vinyl. There I also sold vinyl on a much larger scale. I also did some a&r there and helped with p&d projects for new artists and producers some up and coming and some well known. My knowledge and love of music has always kept me going. I know and have met a lot of talented people on this journey and for that I am thankful. May the journey continue……
