Oliver

__________________________________________________________Bo rn December 9th under the sign of Sagitarius and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Oliver participated in many extra curricular activities growing up in Detroit. One in particular which he discovered from his father was the ability to play the saxophone. While listening to jazz artists such as Grover Washington Jr., John Coltrane and Charlie Parker, his father would show him how to determine an alto from a tenor from a soprano sax. (C. Parker from J. Coltrane), Oliver committed himself to playing the saxophone from middle school through high school earning himself a music scholarship to attended (HBCU) Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi (www.jsums.edu). There at JSU Oliver played in the jazz band and symphonic ensembles and during the fall of black college football season Oliver would highlight the half-time show with punctuated precision marching drills on the field as one of the "Fabulous Four" drum majors for the magnificent "Sonic Boom of the South" marching band, capturing audiences for 4 years. Oliver also pledged the prestigeous KAPPA KAPPI PSI, National Honorary Band Fraternity Inc. which include such members as Lionel Richie, Bill Clinton and Wynton and Branford Marsalis as well as Dizzy Gillespie. After graduating with a degree in Marketing Oliver moved to Austin,TX and while working for DELL Computer Corp., Oliver's passion to perform for audiences resurfaced after discovering the craft of acting. He began taking classes and performing with a local black soap opera (www.ShadesofLife.com. A move to Cleveland, Ohio introduced Oliver to the theater where he performed well over ten plays in a two year period. Oliver signed with agents in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Detroit landing commercials and photo shoots for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Ohio Travel & Tourism, Dell Computer Corp., American Greetings and Pizza Hut, earning him his American Federation of Television and Radio Artist (AFTRA)eligibilty. It was a local Pizza Hut Commercial in Cleveland when Oliver recieved his Screen Actors Guild (SAG )eligibility which soliified Oliver's focus to Los Angeles, California to become a profesional actor where he's been living since September 2005.
