Feel. Write. Play. Play some more. We are jusy trying to do the same as everyone else - play as much as possible to as many people that will listen! Individually and collectively we have shared the stage with Jason Mraz, Newton Faulkner, The Hoosiers, Alabama 3, Them Is Me (ex-Reef and Basemant Jaxx), Two Spot Gobi, Carus Thompson (Australia), Martin Harley Band, Watermelon Slim and Carvin Jones among others. So it's all going pretty well so far, gigs are coming in and self released album is selling well :D Can't complain really. Thanks for checking out our page and tunes, hopefully see you at a gig or solo show soon. Good vibes. Hip Route x

Sounds Like: ...come to a show ;)"Now and again you get one of those nights which is simply perfect, when everything in your world feels right.Standing watching blues band Hip Route was one of those golden moments. Lead singer Jim has one of those luscious voices that is so intune with the blues it almost crackles. His band including Matt Wood on bass and Steve Lodge on drums gel together like superglue bringing his mellow vocals into the limelight. Jim’s songwriting is drenched in the blues but uplifting at the same time and his delivery is easy like Sunday morning. The guys played tracks of all genres of blues from country to Motown, jazzy to pop and all with simple skills and no frills. Jim is an accomplished slide guitar player creating sounds that leave his audience breathless. Hip Route conjure up soundscapes that are rivetting or poignant, light or dark but never without impact and all seemingly without effort." (Flicky Harrison - Vic Gig Review 21st Nov. '08)"Hip Route are a band that I have been meaning to see for a long time, ever since having missed them at the Swindon Shuffle in favour of something louder and brasher. This is the perfect band to prepare us for what is to come, a thick slice of Southern blues complete with lap steel guitar, some nice bass groves and a less is more drum style. What is nice is that it feels authentic without sounding plagiaristic. If the blues had been invented in the deep south of England, then this is what it may have sounded like, we may never know. There was some great playing from all three but only what was necessary to make the song work, no showing off or over fussy solos, though the audience was left in no doubt as to their individual prowess. A nice laid back vibe to act as a buffer zone, a calm before the maelstrom that was to come." - Dave Franklin (on our support slot for Trip Dress, Feb. '08)"Supporting the guys was local band Hip Route and they didn't let the big boys down. Led by Jim, who has a gorgeous blues roick voice that sends shivers down the spine, they played some awesome tunes" - (Flicky Harrison, Swindon Advertiser on our support slot with Them Is Me, Feb. 08)"First up were local folk rockers Hip Route. With a sound that sang Jack Johnson with more bass and drums only slightly sultry and sexed up, they soothed the audience into a respectful hush proving that acoustic guitars and singer-songwriters don't have to be pretentious or boring. A fantastically talented trio, Hip Route set the standard high for this chilled out old-style line -up." (Laura H, Sheer Music Magazine, '06)
