Ameer Spain BKA Lil Y.I.T. (Young Intelligent Thug) A rising rap artist from (Durham North Carolina). He began to realize that he had a gift at the age 13, when his closest friend (Ben) taught him how to put his knowledge and life on paper in rhymes. Ben pasted five (5) years after. With a little thought he realized that all things happen for a reason and that must have been meant for him to speak to people in the form of hip hop and make history in Durham. Eager to get better (Lil Y.I.T.) got off the block and went back to school. At the age 22 years Old,he took it back to the streets and earned the title to be called one of the best MCs in North Carolina (The King of Carolina). Appearing on several local hottest DJs and producers mix tapes. And gaining more props and exposure by performances (Shows) in the surrounding areas, (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, and other North and South Carolina cities). Also including Virginia and Atlanta GA... Which in 2003 (Lil Y.I.T.) released his first solo album The Focus around Durham and Surrounding areas. Creating a street buzz with his undeniable talent, that people were often amazed by some of the songs presented on the album, because of its indebt view of life from the eyes of the next generation of Hip Hop. Which most would think he would be all about Guns and Bling-Bling, instead he shows his outlook on life? Which reflects on the realness and truth of the up coming youth? With the reaction and request for more material, (Lil Y.I.T.) then teamed up with his cousin, which owns his own studio and independent record label (Rated R. Records). Together they began to complete one of the hottest mix CD to ever hit the streets of the Carolinas. With the success of the mix CD people were awaiting the release of his 2nd album. So (Lil Y.I.T.) and other family members began to put together one of the most balanced out mix tapes that could ever be made. Because it shows that we could (Bloods, Crips) all come together and make it happen. UNITY!!! Came together as ONE to make a stronger force (VOLTRON)!!! By collaborating with some of the most talented MCs from New York, The Carolinas to Florida, to complete the 2nd and 3rd mix CD VOLTRON Vol 1. and Vol 2., which shows the versatility and the mass of his presence in this game. Which all three CDs reflects on life itself and the knowledge of being raised around a lot of the older crowd, to know what to do and what not to do!! In other words he took notes and learned from the mistakes of the past to bring a lesson on life to the future. Even so that Bling-Bling and Guns did have there places in his life. In 2003 (Lil Y.I.T.) was shot by an alleged gang member. As his dreams of making money and taking care of his family and friends became more stressful after the shooting, because it opened his eyes on how quick he needs to get his loved one out of the hood.. Not trying to sugar coat his style and flows but (Lil Y.I.T.) represents him-self through his words. And the struggle and pain of most young/old black men in America today, thats ever been through the good times and bad times, trying to get ahead of this game called life. And sometimes they may take you down memory lane of the stress and struggle, but to reveal to the world that there is always a meaning in the struggle!!!! Lil Y.I.T.
