organicArma is a progressive electronic music group with a distinct concept. Comprised of three band members – “dhArma111,” drummer and vocalist; “lhArma,” keyboard player and vocalist and “phAxas,” sampler, engineer and vocalist, organicArma was originally conceived by the 35-year-old Venezuelan visionary Juan Carlos Penaloza in 2003.
This concept for organicArma was born from the need to express art as an evolutionary purpose for mankind through the application of philosophy, linguistics, psychology, science, research and analysis, in order to transmit messages with purpose and intent. The name organicArma reflects the band’s philosophy. The “organic” represents the terrain from where mankind is placed, as well as that which cannot be controlled, and “Arma,” the music itself - an expression of the ability to plan, build and create even within the constructs of what is unknown to man.
The legendary artists of minimal techno, house, dub, industrial and rock have historically inspired the individual members of organicArma, and since 2003, the band has collectively developed its own signature sound that is uniquely indescribable. With a complex yet original undertone and a fusion of intellectual melodic beats throughout each track, organicArma produces a captivating sound with a vocal message that is based on what the group calls “Duality,” the ability to connect the opposing dual worlds of escapism with imprisonment to empower one’s own originality. This concept is transmitted through music that is characterized by man-made rhythms played on electronic instruments, synthesized and crafted with precision, and with poetic lyrics and minimal electronic sounds composed and arranged with purpose and innovation.
organicArma’s music can be both a dream-like lounge experience at home or a locomotive-style live concert show featuring futuristic performance and costume aesthetics with compatible on-stage visuals that combine philosophy with poetic symmetry. While all three members take-on the protagonistic role of delivering their vocal message, the group believes its message is more powerful when delivered, not only by music, but when creating visual artwork, video compositions and an experiential live performance. organicArma provides the audience with a flamboyant live production featuring forward-thinking op-art and kinetic art live visuals, as well as raw instrumentation that motivates and inspires movement, translating the show into an overall immersive experience.
After a history of adjustments and learning, the appropriate music mix came together in 2007 with three uniquely skilled band members who would work in unison to produce the band’s inaugural EP, “Under Duality 0.1,” a collection of the group’s four newly-produced tracks.
organicArma expands upon its debut album while currently producing a series of new tracks at its studio in Miami. Over the summer of 2008, the group will be producing two new tracks, “Meteor” and “Egipsin,” with several remixes that will be available to purchase on its label’s website, www.acustronic.com/StoreHome.aspx and through iTunes. Also in the making is the music video production for the popular track, “Discordia,” from the band’s debut album Under Duality 0.1, that will also be available online while being initially distributed at retail level throughout Venezuela and Colombia in 2009.
organicArma is based out of Miami’s Wynwood Art District, as is their label Acustronic. Acustronic is a concept label made up of sentients committed to originating, representing and transmitting integral messages based on principles of philosophy, duality, risk, trust, and mind awareness. Acustronic’s headquarters “Awarehouse” is home to organicArma, a live performance/music venue, Luis Perez Galeria, a sculpture garden and a home for fine art, and a hub for the global community interested in learning, teaching, sharing, creating and transmitting a conceptual movement.
organicArma’s continued music philosophy seeks to construct a message that encourages listeners to think beyond their current realities and create a reality based on one’s own imagination. The group’s underlying and profound belief is one of taking risks and playing with fears, in order to achieve that which seems impossible or merely a fantasy.
