Acuphuncture

About Me

Acuphuncture are a collective of funk-loving gear addicts. Shortly after graduating, Tom realised that the best way to hide his eBay habit and penchant for moving heavy equipment around was to pretend to be in a band. This dream team of Funkers from the Fens was formed quicker than you can say "Roy Ayers Ubiquity," and after a few months of rinsin' our licks and mastering our moves we're ready to unleash the funk. Initially Acuphuncture are covering a range of our favourite funk records (ranging from Stevie Wonder to more obscure material), but soon we will be unveiling funky cuts of our own creation.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.acuphuncture.com
Band Members: Tiago Coimbra: slaps the bass to create grooves so funky they've been declared illegal in several countries. Myke Clifford: saxes, percussion, flute, backing vocals. Proves one man can be an entire horn section. Pamela Givens: sultry soulful vocals to quench the raging fires of funk. Simon Grimshaw: lead guitar & occasionally second bass. More whicka-whacka wah than Alan Whicker at a wicker-weaving convention. Tom O'Grady: suitcase rhodes 88 & hohner clavinet D6. Herbie wannabe and vinyl junkie. Derek Scurll: drums. THE funkiest white guy since Mike Clark.
Influences: Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers, Gil Scott Heron, Jamiroquai... whatever it is, it's got to be funky.
Type of Label: Major
