Damon grew up in a town outside of Chicago called Des Plaines. At the young age of 7 Damon really took a liking to music. While listening to such groups like Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Posion, Def Leopard Duran Duran, Michael Jackson and the early Z95, Damon was inspired to learn how to play the drums. His parents were not able to afford drums so Damon created music on his own by pounding/tapping on his desk and humming while in class. "I remember being in grade school tapping on the desk with a pencil, and pounding my fist while humming a melody while the teacher was talking. I could not help it, all I wanted to do was make music." I could not wait to go to recess so I could sing one of my new songs to the other kids on the playground." Damon continues to say, "My favorite was going to music class twice a week and making up my own verisons to the songs we sang as a class. At first I did it as a joke, but when I realized the whole class was singing my verisons of the song I was like WOW, so I got hooked." Damon new that he had a gift early on when he could recall, recite, and interpret a entire song musical elements and lyrics in all. Damon's teachers thought that this was a distraction not a gift. Not knowing anything about the "Music Indsutry" Damon started drawing and writing songs. This was his way of releasing his feelings and thoughts. In Junior High Damon got really involved in the House Music movement and started creating mixtapes. In Highschool music took over his life all he wanted to do was hang out with his friends, mix records, and write songs. Later on in high school Damon was intrigued by the sounds of such artists like KRS 1, LL Cool J, Mobb Deep, Run DMC, Public Enemy, The Lost Boyz, Naughty By Nature, Eazy E, Dr. Dre, Notrious B.I.G., and 2pac. Damon went off to college targeting a degree in Secondary Special Education. His primary focus was to help children who were less fortunate through multi-media and music. His goal was to show children that using music, art, and media was a form of expression that allows you to explain who you are and what your feeling through a non-verbal medium. While creating a customized track of the civil war for his students he realized that something was missing. Damon thrived on the challenges of reaching the unattainable, so he followed his life long passion. With out any hesitation Damon enrolled into a music business course and was immediately asked to Nashville. While in Nashville Damon learned about the music/record business. From this point fourth Damon put 150% of his enregy to break into a business which was not considered a "safe" or "accepted" career path from his family, teachers, and friends. After many sleepless nights and lots of hard work. Damon landed a unpaided internship with Interscope Records where he was taught the fundementals of the business. It is at Interscope Damon learned that he had the ability and the gift of a unique A&R ear. "When I listen to a record, I automatically ask myself is this record a hit, if not what can I do to make it one? If I am in the club or just vibing in my car do I want to hear this song over and over? If the answer is no then I know the public is not going to embrace the song. If the answer is yes then we have something." Damon is very critical and very opinionated when it comes to the music he choses to work with. He wants the best music period. Interscope recognized these qualties and he was offered a position from Interscope to be a Midwest Regional Talent Scout. He was then offered a position at Icee Records as the Director of Talent. Three months later he was offered the Executive Vice President of Urban Music position. "At Icee we are known for creating and breaking hit records. We only push records that have mass appeal and has HIT wriiten all over it. You have to love what you put out there because if you don't, then how are you going to sell something that you don't genuinely support." Most recently Damon was tapped by Jordan Entertainment Group in NY to be their new VP of Radio Promotion. Damon was recently promoted to GM of JEG. Damon also picked up duties from Urban Hip Hop label ABB RECORDS/EMI to be their new Director of Radio Promotion & A&R. For his efforts in promotion Damon D was nominated by R&R and Billboard for Record Label Promo Executive of the Year for 2008.Damon has worked with the likes of Kanye West, Pretty Ricky, T-Pain, MIMS, Sunny Valentine, Freddie Gibbs, Killa Kelz, Trap House Boyz, Deja, Tony Tatum, Little Brother, Soul:ID, Darien Brockington, Evidence, Birmingham J, White Boy, John Legend, Yung Joc, Common, Dr. Charles G. Hayes & The Warriors, Dianne Williams, Marvin Sapp, Kirk Franklin, Adrian B. King, Kenny Leiws & One Voice, Rev. Timothy Wright, Nikea, Christopher, Angela Spivey, James Fortune, Jason Champion, Nitty, Twista, Crucial Conflict, Do Or Die, London Calling, and many of today's hottest producers and artists. Damon is always looking for ways he can market and promote IGA Talent Mgmt & Consulting Inc, Jordan Entertainment Group, ABB Records/EMI, and Game On Music Group. "While I was the EVP of Urban Music for Icee Records, I was responable for artist development, A&R, radio/video promotion, buisness affairs, legal affairs, production, strategic marketing, new media, and sales." Basically at Icee I learned how to run a record company effectively." As the new VP of Promotion & GM for Jordan Entertainment Group Damon is responsable for all radio promotion. As the GM of Jordan Entertainment Group Damon is responsable for everything in between and puting out records when the general public demands it.
