About Me
.. ? Ricky Taylor, also know as P-Rick aka Rowdy Roddy, is an up and coming hip hop artist from the recent explosion of talent in Virginia. Versatility is the main factor in this 22 year-old’s game plan. Coming from a household that frequently traveled, he embraces many aspects of the different cultures in which he was placed. Also, being the eldest of a family in which his mother was the sole parental figure, he addresses relevant social issues, inspiring youth to rise above their environments while also bringing variety to the mic with his range of lyrical content. Always being a poet and inspiration to many as a child he used those talents and transitioned them into what he feels is an exceptional medium to have his message heard worldwide.__________________________________________________
_______________                 Now solo, P-Rick started in a group (DAP). Though they were tightly knit, he as well as others felt that the group members were all headed in different directions mentally, which did in fact eventually take place physically. Under the mentorship and somewhat apprenticeship of his producer and friend Big D aka Derrick James of Bloodshot Productions, he has used time in collusion with his experiences to define himself in a world where much is not clear. “I want to make my own sound. I don’t want to be known as the next (blank),†he states. ____________________________________________________________
____                Though, he enjoys life as heard in his tracks, the party songs “You on Fire,†“Eye Contact,†and “Got Ya’ Girl,†where he expresses his ability to let loose and have fun. In contrast, he expresses the reality of life in the message-offering song “Life Goes On.†Also, “First Entry,†which is to some extent an autobiography of his life up to this point as he pours feeling onto the track letting the listeners sense his pain as well as strength in an effort to survive “in a world that doesn’t want to give a chance.â€Â While in addition, he makes his presence felt in the more grimy “Takin’ Mine†and “Shut us Down.†In the anthem “VA,†P-Rick claims his hometown stating, “Seen a lot of places, but VA is my home.†“I just want to be versatile and appeal to a vast audience.â€________________________________________________
________________                The upcoming album TBD (To Be Determined), is basically a rollercoaster ride in sound. Filled with dips and turns it is a one of a kind experience; it is an attraction that will appeal to the masses. But, the ride doesn’t stop there. He’s currently working on the follow-up.
