Chain Poets

About Me

"In my opinion, Chain Poets are the best band in the Atlanta music scene today. Memorable, melodic power-pop songs, stop-on-a-dime instrumentation and powerful vocals are what you will find both on their CD and their live performance."
- Ear Candy
Amplifier Magazine review of first album 'Chain Poets':
"God save the Chain Poets. Not from themself of course, but from the commercial power brokers that continue to ignore well-crafted and diversified rock'n'roll that unabashedly traces its lineage back to the Beatles, Badfinger and Cheap Trick. This Atlanta-based trio purveys pop in a myriad of mistaken identities. "Dial Nine" is a melodic mesh of acid rock and garage punk while cuts such as "Little Tin Toys" break the speed-metal sound barrier with shred guitar and glam-rock-riddled choruses. "Spleen" shoegazes, "Sweet Dreams" boogies, "Too Bad" freaks out and "Better Off Dead" takes the piss out of macho arena rock. These lads certainly deserve the success afforded Everclear, Fountains of Wayne and the Goo Goo Dolls. Equally cursed and blessed, perhaps Chain Poets do too many things too well."
- Tom Semioli for Amplifier
Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Chain Poets was formed
by singer/guitarist Greg Kaegen, drummer Michael Patrick, and bassist T. Penland Cone. Made up of impeccable musicianship, they have honed their live act and polished their songwriting, resulting in an impressive set of killer power pop tunes delivered with passion, energy and reckless abandon, earning them well-deserved credibility and respect in the Atlanta music scene. Chain Poets have released through Garageband Records, a full length 13-song pop extravaganza which has been one of the top 5 sellers on Cd Baby. They have been featured on CNN, written about in the Wall Street Journal and Amplifier Magazine. They recorded a version of the Beatles song "Help" for the Sean Penn movie "I Am Sam" and their song "Emotion Sickness" was featured in the Pontiac Vibe commercial, and was also featured on the interactive dvd from snowdvd.com, which tours ski and snowboard resorts all over the world. Chain Poets have completed work on their second cd Idiodyssey.... stayed tuned.... !
