THE FLORENCE GOSPEL CHOIR SCHOOL-- The Florence Gospel Choir was founded at the Florence Gospel Choir School in 1996 with the scope of sharing and teaching African American culture and its artistic history .The school curriculmn begins with the Spiritual and Gospel, and continues with a musical course that includes the Blues, Soul, and Jazz and other artisitc influences from the American experience.The Choir offers work experiences with professional artists. Through his own professionallity and experience, Mr. Brown succeeds in transmitting the African American cultural experience in its authenticity. The Florence Gospel Choir has performed in numerous theatres, churches, colleges and schools, piazzas in Italy, Portugal, France, Switzerland and Finland. The FGC performed for the project, "Children In Crisis" of The Dutchess of York, Sarah Ferguson during the Pitti Fashion Exposition, Uno Mattino, The Lions Club, The Rotary Club. La Braccialini, Lo Yahct Club di Viareggio, il Comune di Firenze, Poggio a Ciano e tant altreThe FGC has completed two successful tours in the United States performing on television and at the University of Virginia Hospital singing Italian Classics, Spirituals, Hymns and Gospel Music in the places where Gospel Music was born.The 2005-2006 includes work on the CD , a Summer tour in the U.S. a tour in The Netherlands. Highlights from, 2007 a concert with the Actung Babies at Teatro Saschall Firenze. 2008 saw a concert with the Markette Gospel Choir, the completion and release of All My Love in conjunction with the Celebration Gospel Choir and performance on Rai Uno with the Celebration Gospel Choir. In 2009 we returned to our usual support at the Masses in La Chiesa S. Marco, The Florence Gospel Fellowship and St. James Church concerts for various foundations including La Fondazione Giuseppe Tomasello Onlus at Villa Fiorello, Prato, where the choirs en masse performed new songs written by director, Nehemiah H. Brown. We look forward to our participation in several wedding ceremonies, a summer tour in Sweden and a winter tour in Budapest, Hungary.Our theme this year is "With One Voice We're Givin' Up Da Prayze"
