Aa'shiq al-Rasul is Britain's most versatile nasheed group in its tenth year of performing. Its catalogue varies from the traditional to the contemporary, lyrics are performed in English, Arabic, Urdu and Punjabi; supported by percussion instruments, drums only or voice only. Assisted RAIHAN (Malaysia) in producing its popular Allahu track,
provided backing vocals for Zain Bhika's track "Wedding Song".
Aa'shiq has toured throughout the UK, Sweden, Germany, Canada, USA,
Caribbean and Malaysia. Along the way Aa'shiq has performed with Sabri
Brothers, Sami Yusuf, Yusuf Islam, Zain Bhika, Muhammad Al-Husayan,
Noor, Outlandish, 786, SHAAM, Khaleel Muhammad, Nazeel Azmi, Hamza
Robertson, et al. Aa'shiq performed at Glastonbury as well.
Aashiq al Rasul have had a very successful year in reaching out to
their audiences with many live shows performed at local, national and
international levels. This has led to loads of exciting plans for the
rest of 2008 and the coming 2009.Aashiq al Rasul by the day are becoming more and more popular with
the youth in Britain, they are currently conducting workshops in
schools concentrating on Peace, Unity and love amongst Humans as well
as tackling some contentious issues like drugs, crime and anti social
behaviour that are becoming a big concern for parents in society
today. Showing the youth a way to communicate, smile and take interest
in education to better their lives and become better human beings.
Aashiq al Rasul continue to work with charities across the globe to
support their causes already they have worked alongside 5 Pillars,
Muslim Hands, Islamic Relief, Islamic Help, Children in Deen and many
others.
Amran Ellahi founded the band in 1998, with the backing of vocalist Kamran Ellahi, Tahir Khan, Sheraz Yaqub, percussionists Andy Mason and Usman Malik. Hailing from the West Midlands, England AAR are classically trained singers / percussionists.
