J. Rhodes Collection was founded by Janine Rhodes in March of 2005 in Long Beach, CA. Design has always been a hobby of hers, but while attending college she knew it had become her passion. In July 2005, Janine competed in her first competitive fashion show hosted by Mobius Lounge. She was happy to be able to participate, but was shocked when she was one of the top five finalists. Her family and friends were not as shocked as her because they knew her talent and dedication would show in her work. The J. Rhodes Collection Fall 2006 line made its debut at the Ethos Fashion show in Los Angeles, CA. The garments were instantly the hit of the show and were showcased in the August 2006 issue of Apparel News. Janine, 24, graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor's degree in textiles and clothing and a minor in fashion merchandising. She was also awarded CSULB's "Outstanding Apparel Design Graduate" for 2007. A former assistant designer at Marianne Lanting Bridal, Janine recently moved to New York to further pursue her career in fashion. Having just completed an internship with Yigal-Azrouel, she assisted Emmy-award winning comedian, Kathy Griffin, with her wardrobe for Bravo’s 1st Annual A-List Awards. Currently, Janine works at Rebecca Cole Designs while she works to build the J. Rhodes Collection brand.
