So one night I'm sitting down flipping threw channels and BAM I catch the beginning of BEAT STREET!So I begin to explain to my daughter who's turning 9 in May, that Beat Street was like the first "You Got Served" or "crunk" - '1 on 1' tv show, type movie where Kats were battle dancin' against each other, crews and cities.... The shit was sooooooo tight... first cause I watched Beat Street for the first time at the very same age. Movie came out in 84.. I was 8 turning 9. Second... My daughter followed the whole movie... She actually stopped what she was doing and tuned in. Were talking she's following the love story, the battles by crew name, peeping the graffiti on the trains, even feeling the music that was playing in Kenns and Lees' room when they were sleep and their moms came in and turned it off to wake emup.. need I say she shed a tear when Ramon got zapped. But for her to see the: The Treacherous Three, Grandmaster Melle Mel, Kool Mo Dee, Kool Herc, Jazzy Jay, AFRIKA BAMBAATAA....Rock Steady Crew and Dougie Fresh in the same flick in their prime...PRICELESS... to a Daddy of the hip hop era. I can't even explain the feeling...lolHow bout straight Frrrrrrreeeesh! lol ***Please if you leave a comment, Out of respect for my Relationship...
