I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

As my screen name suggests, I’ve become quite a fan of steel-drum (colloquially called “pan”) music. My most favorite “panners” for many years have been Bakra Batá, a four-man/two-woman sextet from Seattle. From the late 80’s/early 90’s until 2000 (and one final time in the spring of 2003), they came here to my hometown twice a year, playing at the Festival of the Arts on Mill Avenue.
Profesionally, I’m a published author and a part-time lyricist, as well as a popular music & culture critic.
I officially became a “published author” in December 2003, with my debut novel, Yeltaw, published by AuthorHouse. The book is available through Amazon and Barnes&Noble . Prior to September of 2007, I had also been planning a movie version of Yeltaw, titled The New (& Improved) Corey. In late 2005, not long after I’d initially joined MySpace, someone here had been posting false, inaccurate, outdated information about the casting of this movie. On January 29, 2006, I discovered a security leak in my profile; but by then, it was a little too late—I found myself implicated for a crime I did not commit. These implications and accusations nearly drove me to file a libel suit against a Grammy-winning female pop diva.
(I should point out that this exact same female pop diva is on my friends list. This issue, however, is far from being settled. And I don’t know if it ever will be.)
Presently, I’m writing my second novel, The Girl from Nebraska (A Tale of Steel Drums, Love Triangles, and Chalk Outlines). Simultaneously, I’m also writing the short book Urban Love, for which I’m planning to collaborate on the movie version with my very very special friend Victoria. Future/planned books include Butternut, Nickie Chones, Mitchell Park East, Story of O’Bryan, 23653945 (a true tell-all about the aforementioned “W@†|€¥9@†€” scandal), and the multi-volume Saga of Sangamon series.
On August 28, 2001, I began my career as a “part-time lyricist”; my first composition was “Angel Aaliyah”—which derives its melody from Barry Manilow’s “Could It Be Magic”. As you might have guessed, I wrote it about Aaliyah (1979-2001), who concluded her beautiful stay on earth three days prior. I posted it on a number of message boards (VH1, BET, aaliyah2001.com); it got very rave reviews from nearly every corner of the globe; the second stanza even made a girl in Australia cry.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

(1) The woman at #1 on my “40 Most Beautiful” list— Merica . Haven’t seen her since the 2003 Spring Festival of the Arts here in Tempe—the last time Bakra Batá played here. Oh, what I wouldn’t give, or do, just to see her again, and once again feel that heart-melting smile. I love and miss her—like the deserts miss the rain.

(2) Any of the 39 other women on my “40 Most Beautiful” list—especially the woman at #12, Ms. Theodore , who sure is one Vibrant, Impressive, Creative, Talented, Outstanding, Remarkable, Inspiring, Awesome person!
