the needies are... wait... the needies is.... wait. i don't understand the grammar of band names and the whole is/are thing. like, "REM are a band," sounds really messed up to me. i prefer "REM is a band,"... to me, in this case, ARE sounds better. like, music magazines started using "are" all the time suggesting that a band is made up of several people, yet english grammar states that a band is a singular entity. like a group or team. "the group is going to a movie tonight," or "our team is playing in the finals!" but it gets weird when a singular thing is plural. like, you'd say, "the television show 'the newlyweds' is an annoying show," but you'd say, "the newlyweds are annoying,"... so when you say that the needies ____, it sounds better to me to say "the needies are", even though it's a singular thing (composed of two people). oh, the curse of being the son of an english teacher.okay. let me start over. the needies are a post-punk/anti-folk/power-pop duo from texas. we play songs about making out, monsters and punching the air reeeeeeal slow. we enjoy rocking, rolling, sleeping on your floor, meeting your parents, petting your dogs and cats, recycling, solving mysteries and eating "shaun chow" or the roasted almond variety known as "trav chow". ooh, let's hold hands.our friend brian packs too large of a suitcase on tour.if you can't wait for us to play in your town on tour, i swear to god, buy us some plane or train tickets (buses are debatable) and promise us food and we'll totally rock you crosseyed at your discretion. it would be cheap for you and fun for all. we love to travel. and shaun really loves the tiny snacks on planes.also, we kind of like to think of ourselves as a compact def leppard. less equipment means we can tour in a station wagon and use the saved gas money on important things like jeans and knives.
