Mastering self-preservation

About Me

So I'm now 24 living in Raleigh which is now my home. I've lived in NY, NC, HA, AZ, and grew up in Florida once my dad got out of the military. People are the thing I value most and rarely will you find me by myself. I'm the textbook definition of extrovert, which for newcomers may be a bit much early on...but don't worry it'll grow on you. I enjoy new people and introducing them to my friends and also like to simply sit back and people watch when I can.North Carolina has been amazing to me and plan to stay here for quite some time to give back whatever I can to this state. I have a hard time separating my undergrad life from my present professional old person life likely because I still take grad classes at night - but that's a benefit of staying in the city where you went to college.I am an impatient driver, I readily share my thoughts on situations and ideas, I am not very reserved and often get appointed to make decisions or do the negotiating. The role my friends let me play in their lives is interesting and keeps me going.I'm always looking for a new interest or place to go so if you've got something good please let me know. Growing up I hated the outdoors and eventhough I grew up at the beach I now miss it and actually appreciate being outside (no camping). Basketball, the pool, and volleyball are about my favorite things to do in town on the weekends right now until it's time to go out with my roommates and our crew. This is a rather intriguing time in our lives.

My Interests

I generally try to surround myself with as many people as possible doing the usual: movies, music, and going out to dance or have a drink at a bar. I play basketball whenever possible and have tried to play some football (eventhough i can only catch the ball outside of the endzone) and lift weights 3 or 4 times a week (when work permits it). When the weather is right I like some volleyball outdoors in the sand. When I have free time alone I try to write or just listen to new music. I am obsessed with song lyrics, constantly trying to find the lyrics that perfectly captivate/capture my mood and emotions. Live shows of local talent are always an outing option as are large concerts in the area.Secretly I wish I was an artist of some sort. Since I was not blessed with a talent like that I enjoy the work of others be it photography, painting, or a well-designed building model.I grew up at the beach and did not enjoy it until I left Florida, so now I feel like I have years and years to make up for. When the roommate and I have money traveling with him always brings big things.

I'd like to meet:

New friends to keep me on my toes and to keep it interesting. I have an incredible group of friends both here in NC and back home in FL, but I love to bring new folks into the mix! My friends come from all walks of life cause we don't discriminate...well we really try not to anyway!

Music:

My favorite artists are Coldplay and Lauryn Hill. Live singer songwriter with good lyrics, and hip hop that flows with a purpose are always on the playlist. I enjoy John Mayer, Brighteyes, A. Keyes, Deathcab for Cutie, Postal Service, Counting Crows, Kanye West, Ella Fitzgerald, Louie Armstrong, Bob Marley, Dave Matthews, Elliot Smith, John Legend, Ben Harper Imogen Heap, Ben Lee, The Format, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party, The Dismemberment Plan, Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos, The Killers, Black Lab, The Audition, Panic at the Disco, Gnarls Barkley, 30 Seconds to Mars, India Arie and Sufjan Stevens. So far, Coldplay was the greatest concert I've seen followed by Brighteyes and Dave Matthews (on my birthday). Looking forward to Ben Harper, Dave, and Pearl Jam this summer.
