here is a helpfully numbered list of random things.
1. i'm originally from new jersey, but have been living in chicago since december 2006. i moved here for no particular reason, other than to push myself out of my comfort zone and do something sort of brave. i do love it here, but i never stop missing my friends from back home.

3. i'm completely and totally obsessed with the office. if you aren't, i will probably make you come over for a season 2 marathon. yes, we're starting with season 2, because it's perfect. i am pam beesly, for better or for worse.

5. i play a few instruments, and sometimes i write songs and record them in my bedroom. they're...you know. they're songish. one of them is about a dinosaur. the others, sadly, are not. see also: the gongs.
6. i am kind of in love with stephen colbert. also, andrew bird. and john krasinski, and tina fey, and and...okay, let's not start this.
7. i have a way of accidentally becoming quasifamous on the internet every so often. i like it just fine, except i wish it came with buckets of cash.
8. i really miss the ucb theatre in new york.
9. i love "the girl from ipanema" and bossanova music in general, totally unironically. i'm sure this negates any teensy bit of cred i may have had, but hey.
10. this one time, i rescued a sick monarch butterfly from a pack of two-year-olds on the playground. one of the preschoolers named her Squishy. i took her in and fed her sugarwater, expecting her to last only a day, at best. instead she just got stronger every day, and at the end of the week, i took her home with me, and then to the top of the watchung mountains to set her free--but not before posing her for photographs all around my classroom and house. here, squishy befriends dwight schrute:
