About Me

Hello everyone!!! Hope all is well. My name is Fatimah and I am 29y/o and from the Philadelphia area. My objective is to bring awareness to the issue of youth experiencing incarceration and the need for us as a community to provide more programs and support for at-risk youth. I have a nonprofit here in Philly and we mentor youth experiencing incarceration. While I love spending time with my participants, it breaks my heart to see the same children leaving the facility and returning months, years, and sometimes weeks later. They're coming back because there isn't an effective support system instituted to keep the youth of this group on track that they themselves feel comfortable and are motivated to participant in. Enter CASST, Inc. I am the founder and we plan to change the game one child at a time. A good number of participants are teens and have seen and endured things that I at 27 haven't and probably never will. Drug abuse, domestic violence, prostitution, molestation, rape, incest, you name it my participants have probably gone through it and often in the place they call home. Participants range in ages 12-24 (most are in range of 13-19). Our sessions are held weekly at the Philadelphia Youth Study Center. FOR YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION: Let me put this out there early...if you're entertaining ignorance, keep it moving. If you are comfortable and content in being ignorant, keep it moving. It's that simple. You may think I'm being rude but I feel I'm being honest and saving us both pretty valuable time. I respect those who respect themselves and even if you don't respect yourself, at least be on or trying to get on the path of learning how to. Ignorance is unacceptable especially with the state of our existence today. As I heard a good friend once say, "Get your existence together!" Thank you! If it doesn't apply let it fly! This message was written to one person in particular who probably won't even realize it's written for him. I love my people but I can't tolerate or entertain foolishness, ignorance, and negativity from anyone, especially my own. We're now back to our regualrly scheduled programming. LOL. Well, I'm particularly interested in networking with individuals interested in youth advocacy and community betterment. I'm even looking to build acquaintanceships with cool people just like you!
