About Me

Katie’s passion for music led to the release of her first EP in June of 2006. Her unique blend of pop and jazz makes this gifted young artist a newcomer worth discovering. Her love for music combined with her love for God and people is what essentially led her to begin writing and singing her own music.
Accompanying herself on both the piano and guitar, Katie has been singing in coffee shops, churches, retreat settings, clubs and conventions all over the Northwest.
Katie got serious about her songwriting in August of 2005, after meeting Billy Smiley (White Heart founder, and songwriter/producer for the Newsboys, Clay Aiken, Charity Von, and Margaret Becker) at the Seminar in the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. Together, Billy and Katie wrote all of the songs on her debut EP.
"In Estes Park, Billy took the time to listen to me sing a song I had written, and believed in me enough to work as my producer, developer, and songwriting partner. I am thankful for what he has taught me."
The lyrics to her songs are conversational, honest, and fun at times.
Katie recorded a hymn titled Nothing but the Blood. It is a contemporary jazz version of this old hymn. "I have always cherished this song. I thought it odd to put a hymn on my EP but it ended up being my favorite cut on the record."
Working with incredible musicians such as Roy Mitchell-Cardenas (Upright and Electric Bass with Mute Math), Jeff Ocheltree (Drummer with Symphony in Red), and Greg Hagan (Guitarist with Symphony in Red and Little Big Town) was truly a priviledge.
Katie is continuing her journey in songwriting and will start recording again in April of 2008. Her band mates, Marc Herring and Ryan Cork, will be recording and producing this project. All are excited. Oh what fun.
"My hope is that those who listen to my music will discover something that will assist in shaping them into who they were created to be. Whether that be a love for God, a love for themselves, or a love for people; all of these things are worth discovering."
