MOMENTARY

About Me

Momentary was originally formed in early 2001 by two members, Kyle Feerick playing acoustic guitar and singing, and Bobby Burch producing unorthodox beats on the djembe (an African hand-drum). Feerick and Burch are Milwaukee natives and high school friends who both attended UW-Oshkosh to continue a musical brotherhood that began with Wake up Clayton two years prior. Upon arrival, the two seized every musical opportunity they could; playing anywhere and anytime. In doing so, they were fortunate to meet Adam Betz, who in December of 2001 joined the music on acoustic guitar, and soon after, Jeff Prah singing vocal harmonies. For the next two years, most of Momentarys time was spent on writing new and original music. The group also performed shows around the Oshkosh and Milwaukee, Wisconsin area as well, periodically featuring a cellist. In 2003, Feerick and Burch moved back to Milwaukee thus creating a considerable distance barrier between all of the members of the band. Despite this, Momentary did not give up on performing and writing new music. In January of 2006, Betz, Burch, and Feerick went into the studio in order to capture some of the music Momentary had created. The long-awaited five song CD that was produced, entitled Face Forward, was the first recording of Momentary to be released. Momentary had always been intended to be a larger band, stated Feerick. Therefore, he featured the talents of other local artists on Face Forward. Jesse Sheehan is featured on the tablas (hand-drums from India) as well as tenor and soprano saxophone. Matt Turner provides the bass, and Domingo Toro completes the rhythm section on bongos, congas, and auxiliary percussion. The result: a very fresh, eclectic, and original sound. The traditional place of the drum set has been taken by a full, tight sounding percussion section. This coupled with intricate guitar and vocal lines, gives Momentary a worldly feel. The music that Momentary creates can be described as indie rock with a world beat. Currently, Betz and Feerick continue to write music for Momentary, while Burch and Feerick perform shows in Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Momentary keeps their performances fresh and new by continually featuring the talents of other musicians from around the Midwest. We hope to continuously bring an invigorating level of energy to the stage, says Burch, and I think that is exactly what we are accomplishing.
