Who The Fuck:
Exotic Fever Records is proud to announce the release of Now Sleepyhead's debut full-length CD, Nocturne. This release is the result of an exciting partnership with Pop Faction Records, a label based in the band's hometown of Richmond, Virginia. Now Sleepyhead formed in the summer of 2004 when veteran Virginia rockers Karen Creighton and Michael Otley began playing guitar and piano songs together. Michael's former bandmates Oura Sananikone and Phil Barbato soon joined to round out the group.
Now Sleepyhead recorded Nocturne in 2007 and 2008, the band creating and capturing its diverse sounds—a mix of introspective indie, pummeling shoe-gazer, and atmospheric rock. The members share conviction about social justice issues, which is how we met them in the first place, through their submission of an incredible animal rights–centered track "Pandemic" for our Compassion Over Killing benefit compilation.
These hardworking and collaborative artists share instrumental and vocal duties, which gives each song a very different feel, making the band impossible to pigeonhole. The instrumentation includes acoustic and electric pianos, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, Casio SK-1, bellkit, organ, French horn, and shaker. The members also collaborated on the beautiful Digipak artwork and have plotted weekend jaunts and tours throughout the rest of the year in support of the release. We are thrilled to present this powerful first release and recommend any track as a starting point, particularly "Who the Fuck" and "Eternal Damnation," the first two songs on the CD.
