Creatively fusing the sounds of jazz, indie rock, and electronic experimentation, the band tenTigers offers a dynamic music experience full of skill, personality, and interesting composition. Born from a mixture of several Central Pennsylvania bands, they have been playing local stages and winning over fans with their outstanding live performances for the last year and half.Brothers Kelly and Kyle Hollinger began making music together in 2004 while Kyle was at Penn State University. He recorded numerous guitar parts and sent them one by one back to Kelly to add percussion to the songs. At the time, Kelly was busy making a name for himself as a talented drummer with a number of Harrisburg-based bands including Slamo and Suburban Transit, the latter of which has opened for well-known acts like the Benevento/Russo Duo among others. Also contributing to this long distance musical collaboration was bassist Tobey Foresman, of Slamo, Suburban Transit, and Life on Mercury, who added his unique vision of the bass to Kelly & Kyle’s work. Over several years, this trio laid the groundwork for the creation of tenTigers. After moving back to the Harrisburg area, Kyle began playing regularly with Kelly and Tobey. Soon after, keyboardist and songwriter Pat Bowman of local band Quagmire Swim Team began accompanying the trio, adding yet another layer of talent and experience to this already impressive blend of musicians. In 2008, tenTigers began collaborating with Frank Silver of Green Room Studios in Harrisburg, who recorded and co-produced the band’s first album, The Trouble With Ghosts. Set to release in mid-2009, this record offers a fantastic display of the musicianship tenTigers has to offer.
