About Me

Osiyo!
My name is Delia, I was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, just below the Oklahoma border but transplanted to Florida as an infant; hence, I consider myself a Floridian more than a Texan.
A little bit about me: I love to make wire wrapped jewelry. To me, it's an art form - a means of expression. Though oddly I do not often wear jewelry myself, I love .. no.. I LIVE to make it. I am very strongly influenced by Eni Oken, Dana Kellin and Lisa Claxton. They are three very talented women. See my myspace site (#1 on my friends list) Delia's Stones Studio to see some of my work, or to my website www.DeliaStone.com.
I love to drum - it's one of my favorite pass times. I have a fair collection of hand drums, my favorites being the djembes and doumbeks in my collection. Middle Eastern and African rhythms are my favorites.
I love to camp in wild places (primitive forest, not camp grounds!). My favorite place to camp is in the primitive forest of Blackwater River area. It's not just a place to camp to me, it's a place of solace, healing, and a means of connecting with the Creator. I never feel more at peace than when I can sit in silence in the forest, listening to the song of the forest ... water flowing through the river, wind moving through the canopy of trees above me, the sounds of insects buzzing all around.
I am mother to one beautiful man cub, five years of age, and one beautiful baby girl, born January 2007.
Please take a look at my Year of Jewlery Project blog: http://deliasstones.blogspot.com/. I participate in the YOJ Project with various artists from around the world in which we challenge ourselves as artist to stay focused and improve in our craft. You will find more information about the project in my creation blog on my website or through the blog URL above.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

... or rather, People I'd like YOU to meet ... my precious new baby girl and her proud big brother and papa. Born January 10th, 2007. Welcome to the world baby Rhiannon! Now, on to mundane stuff. :)I am looking to be exposed to fresh new music of any genre... you never know what you like or dislike until you try it. :) I espcially like music that is exotic and unusual. I would have to say that world music is my favorite genre ... Boy, I must be getting old :)

I'd like to meet other Belly Dancers.

I'd like to meet other drummers who gravitate towards hand drums of any kind... djembes, doumbeks, Bongos, Ashikos, etc. Especially locals who are interested in drum circles in the area, or who have information on drum circles in the area. Doom Doom Tak a TAK!

Anyone who enjoys making, or would like to learn to make, wire wrap and related jewelry. There are a few pics of my work in my pictures section.
