************************************************************ * *** All songs on this page written and owned by the one and only Neil Young and performed with respect and appreciation by YOUNG RUST. *** ************************************************************ *Hailing from Providence RI, Young Rust - the ultimate Neil Young experience, formed in late 2004 by longtime local original music scenesters Mike Gendron ("Neil"), Ryan Meehan, and Kevin Ferschke. Last year, the band was joined by guitarist Rex Chisty to complete the classic Crazy Horse-esque line-up. In June of 2006, Rex was kidnapped by a band of wild indians. Shortly thereafter, the band was joined by John Winters, master lap-steel player and rhythm guitarist. The band currently knows and can perform 40+ Neil Young songs, spanning Mr. Young's musical career and still continues to learn selections from a 700+ song catalog of Neil's music. From a very young age, Mike Gendron, 28, developed an instant connection to Neil's music and art. It was Neils music that inspired him to go out and get an electric guitar at age 15. Since that time Mike has learned countless Neil Young songs, and finally discovered the opportunity to play these songs live when he met up with Ryan, Kevin. The group had an instant musical connection, and decided they should make the first known tribute band in Rhode Island dedicated to Neil Young. The band is glad they did, as they've developed new and lasting relationships with several bars, pubs, and taverns in the RI and SE MA area, who repeatedly book the band month after month. A new breed of followers can also be seen at every show Young Rust performs.
