very tasty, very very good and very connected!
Where do i start?
It always baffels me what to write, as im not just into music, although that is my main expression. i also have passions for photography and art in which i take every opurtunity to better myself at. apart from that i love talking about the deeper things in life. getting below the surface is what makes me tick. and thats a big influence in my creativity.
i also love books(writing as well as reading) and film, i also travel a bit too, but for now back to the music.....
I started off being musical at quite a young age and first started singing and tinkering with percussion sounds, which moved me onto learning the Drums at the age of 16.
Being originally influenced in the eighties by bands such as U2, and Simple minds, while also listening to the soul music that was being brought in at the time.
This progressed onto experimenting more vocally, and due the company of musicians as friends i found myself quite by accident learning to play the guitar at 18, and started writing my first songs shortly after, and had my first performance at 20.
My musical influences have been expanding and changing ever since from the likes of Tori Amos, Led Zeppelin and the Dandy Warholes to Turin Brakes, Massive Attack, Leftfield, Nitin Sawhney, Zero 7 and various other down tempo chillout artists.
This musical journey grew at a steady pace, and i found my own feet in what feel and message i wanted to get across in the music. i hope that my outlook and life experiences come across in the music. i would like to think that people can connect with the music from a spiritual angle too, as this is a prominent part of my life.......the journey of self discovery which everyone is on whether being aware of it or not. for me? ive felt connected to eastern philosiphy ever since i can remember, but it dosent end there. but we would be here all night so on we go......
At 29 i moved into studying music technology for 3 years at Canterbury College of Arts and Technology, in the hope that it would broaden my abilities as a musician and songwriter.
Through this i met and collaborated with producer John Tutton who worked with the likes of Super Fury Animals, Stereophonics, an Coldplay. John helped me in recording and studio experience by working on various tracks with me.
I also worked for a short time with Manager Pete Moore who had previously worked for Sony as a Product Manager, before moving on and creating his own musical agency Screaming Talent. Through Pete and studio engineer Jim Riley, i met my current bass player Russell, who has just finished touring with Deep Purple. Russell (who plays an electric upright double bass) has been an integral part of the feel of the music, giving the down-tempo acoustic chillout a smooth funky bass appeal.
Then came "Steve - (2Placid - Asymmetric)" he turned the Chillout accoustic, into Chillout/electronica/accoustic. and as a result of producing the music, we have collaborated under the name "Life Audience" which you can also find here on Myspace at www.myspace.com/lifeaudience
the union of Steve and Russell has brought forth an interesting different sound which is hard to put into any category, but with smooth laid back vocals and lovely guitar hooks, down-tempo acoustic chillout is probably the best description. Enjoy.....
and Hare Krishna!
