Orkestra Orange is a new unique collective of musicians dedicated to the art of improvisation, and bringing that art to a more mainstream audience. We are an eight piece band, five horns plus rhythm section. Packaged in the genres of funk and jam, we offer very danceable rhythms borrowed from Latin, Rhythm & Blues, and Afro-Pop. These rhythms are accentuated with the bands collective improvisational influences of jazz, and classic rock. One certainty for all Orange fans is that each performance is a new and exciting experience!Orkestra Orange consists of trumpet, alto/tenor/baritone saxophones, trombone, guitar, bass, and drums. Band members come from different levels of experience and influence. We range in age from early 20's to 50's! Members have played in most clubs and venues around Detroit, past and present, including: Emerald Theater, Magic Bag, The Detroiter, Hard Rock Cafe, Alvin's, Detroit Athletic Club, The Soup Kitchen, as well as special events, such as: Ann Arbor Art Fair, Arts Beats and Eats Art Fair (Pontiac), and Hurricane Katrina benefits.
