Burn Down the Disco is a scenesters dream. Once a month, only the hippest, most fabulous Five College students congregate to dance dramatically to music created in a time and place they will never know. The indie rockers, the PRA (Punk Rock Academy), the emo kids, the hipsters all come to celebrate living through through style and seeking the attention they were neglected in childhood. They have attached themselves to a short-lived musical movement in the late seventies awash in politics they haven’t read about, drugs they’re too scared to try, and personal sacrfices alien to their sheltered lives. But in this day and age, authenticity is a luxury restricted to those whose parents locked the TV in the closet and were made to learn the piano. And who wants to talk to them? They won’t even get your jokes. So let’s revel in the nostolgia that we don’t remember, and embrace our calculating personalities.Leave your well-adjusted emotional well-being at the door, and keep your irony-radar on max, cuz its time to BURN DOWN THE DISCO
