About Me

Randy Rollofson recieved a Bachelors of Music with major in Jazz Studies from the University of Oregon in 2001 and now resides in Portland, OR. While attending the U of O, he studied improvisation and composition with Gary Hobbs, Chris Lee, Charles Dowd, Steve Owen, and Gary Versace. Randy was a 3-time recipient of Outstanding Musician Awards from the Reno International Jazz Festival, and in 2001 he received the Sabian Cymbal Award for Outstanding College Drummer. He was also presented with the Outstanding Music Performer Award during graduation ceremonies. Randy has performed with musicians such as: Randy Porter, Ben Monder, Mike Denny, Darrell Grant, David Friesen, Bill Beach, Tony Pacini, Dan Balmer, Dave Captein, and Ed Bennett. In 2001, he attended the Banff International Jazz Workshop lead by trumpeter Dave Douglas and pianist Kenny Werner, and in 2003 was accepted into the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Workshop held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC lead by Nathan Davis, Curtis Fuller, Winard Harper, Jimmy Owens and John Clayton. Randy also plays drums in Portland-based band Echo Helstrom .
