My name is Angelica Jones a.k.a. Firestar. I am a mutant super hero in the Marvel universe. I have the ability to generate and manipulate microwave radiation, which allows me to generate intense heat and flames and to fly. I have been a member of the New Warriors and The Avengers.I origionally appeared in the animated series Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends as a replacement for the Human Torch, the rights to which were tied up in a possible movie venture. I have been identified as being a former member of the X-Men, along with Iceman, with whom I appeared to have a romantic relationship with.Later, I appeared in comic books as well, beginning with Uncanny X-Men ..193. Although I was initially a pawn of the X-Men's enemies, I quickly became a superhero in my own right. After a miniseries of my own, I faded into obscurity until I became a founding member of the New Warriors. There, I became engaged to fellow teammate Vance Astrovik (aka Justice, formerly Marvel Boy); later, I discovered that my radiation powers were rendering her unable to have children.Justice and I later joined the Avengers for a time; during this period, Henry Pym determined the cause of this was due to the fact that the natural immunity to the effects of my own powers, which all mutants possess, had never fully developed, so he designed a costume for me that would siphon off the excess radiation and give me natural immunity the opportunity to manifest fully.Vance and I have recently split up do to me still going to school and just not being ready to make such a huge commitment.
