It seems as though I have not updated my profile in some time, so here goes:
I'm proud of myself and of whom I've become. That's not to be arrogant by any means, just the truth. I had a great deal of help along the way; in some ways too much help.
I was able to make it through nursing school a few years ago, which was the best thing I could have done. My work is challenging and rewarding. It fits well with the fact that I like to learn, because you NEVER stop learning as a nurse. I work in the Emergency Department at a large local hospital, which is really a hospital within a hospital. I worked with acute psych patients for a year and a half in our locked psych unit, but now I'm back out in the zones caring for medical patients.
One thing people should know is that, politically, I am very liberal. I think that the eight years this country was held hostage by the George W. Bush administration were the worst, not only of my life but for the life of the United States. Barack Obama has a chance to change all that, but so far he has left a little to be desired. His escalation of the war in Afghanistan and his court battle to keep American torture under the rug has left a bad taste in my mouth. I truly hope he succeeds in doing the right thing.
OK. I'm off my soapbox.
I have two sons who remind me every day how much older I'm getting. The oldest will be graduating from High School this year, and the younger from Junior High. Damn.
OK. Let's go from here.
Peace.
