Detroit has a new up and coming Producer, Yung Lo. At the young age of 16, Loren “Yung Lo†Richardson has begun to produce music for local Detroit talent. His love for music began by joining his 6th grade band at Ann Arbor Trail Magnet Middle School in Detroit, Michigan. He played the Saxophone and realized he had an ear and passion for music. Yung Lo is currently working on a 30 Track Beat CD and a Mix tape called “Tha Detroit Takeova Vol.1.â€Yung Lo describes his music as versatile and for all ages. His versatility is proven as you listen to his tracks. He plans to produce music for several genres especially Hip Hop and R & B. He uses different technique patterns with each track he produces. He states that “my music is unique and there is no other music being produced like mine.†Yung Lo has produced records and had guest appearances on several records from other local artists. In 2006, he recorded a verse on Larry “Burner†Brown’s debut record entitled, “Get Money.†Yung Lo has also produced tracks for Justen “J-Mack†Madkin entitled, “Rap Star†in May 2007. Recently, he has done production work for Jameel “Yung One†Pittman ft. Auwin “Auwin D†Dargin called “Shynin†in June 2007. He has also worked with David “Dat Boi Dave†Gibson ft. DeShawn “Shawn†Singleton in which he produced a track entitled “Anotha Route†in July 2007. Yung Lo is very clever and prides himself on perfecting every track knowing it will be a potential hit.Yung Lo has performed as a producer/artist at several venues. On March 10, 2007, he performed a song with “Yung One†called “This is How We Do†during Grammy Night at the Detroit High School for the Fine Arts Performing Arts where he attends in Detroit. This is the same performing arts school that produced graduates and national recording artists Teairra Mari and the late Aaliyah. He also performed at Black Lake in July 2007 in Onaway, Michigan. He has most recently auditioned for Making the Next Hit hosted by The Chief Rocker Busy Bee at Cobo Hall on Saturday, July 21st. Yung Lo was selected to move to the second round of the Competition and will be showcased on October 14th at Marygrove College’s Conference Center.Yung Lo credits God, his parents, mentors and musical influences that have changed the game. His musical influences are some of the best in the industry which includes Timbaland, Just Blaze,Rodney “Dark Child†Jerkins, Swizz Beatz, 2Pac, T.I., Mannie Fresh, Kanye West, J Dilla, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Scott Storch, Dr. Dre and Lil’ Wayne.Yung Lo has strong, hard-hitting beats that will make you believe he was a veteran in the game. His mentors help keep his ego in check, provide constructive criticism and promote professional development to hone his skills to the next level. He credits mentors Hilton Wright, II and Brian Wright of Wrightrax Entertainment & Production as “first to recognize my talent and give me advice on the business side of the industry.†To add to his knowledge he feels that Theodore White, his Music Technology teacher at DSA has provided additional insight and direction on the music industry. Mr. White is the basis for Yung Lo learning to utilize professional studio equipment and critiquing his work to become a hot producer and engineer. He also thanks 3-L Entertainment’s, CEO, Lynell “L-3†Long on helping him to establish himself in the music industry and learning how to make dollars make sense. He will be working with “L-3†on future projects.Yung Lo dreams of a major label deal with production under his independent label, Grindin’ Hard Entertainment.
