Many people have asked us about the name....Well, The Mojave (said Moharvee) Desert has always been a place of interest. Don Van Vliet spent his childhood there, Gram Parsons got "cremated" there. By all accounts its a pretty interesting place. It was also the home of the Mojave Indians. The historic Mojave were known as the Pipa Aha Macav, - the people by the water. As we live virtually on the banks of the River Mersey this also seems appropriate. The "collective" is inspired by the collective musical input from each of the six (or more) members of the band.
The band was formed in 2001 and have remained one of Liverpool's best kept secrets. Their reputation and influence on many of today's local bands is obvious and undeniable.
The roots of this band go back further still to 1995, and the The Marbles (formed by Mark who was later joined by Tommy) a 60's influenced power pop quartet that predates the "Cosmic Scouse" scene by a number of years! Incidentally, later line-ups of The Marbles included Russ of The Zutons and Edgar Jones of The Joneses.
