About Me

On August 7th 2007 I lost My Fiance to Suicide. I have along with some other close friends of Bridget's set up a group to help raise awareness about suicide and mental health issues. Please visit our site here and help us spread the word. We also have a myspace page here and a bebo page here . Any help is greatly appreciated.

ARKETEK started life in the fast lane of americana/new country in a band called

Dot Creek | Myspace page here | more info here |

we were part of the explosion in Ireland more by accident than any planning on our part, we just wanted to create beautiful music and that's where we ended up!, we were doing kinda well actually, had releases a couple of singles, a nice album, were playing along side the likes of

Unfortunaely in time I was left with a choice to either murder our manager or leave the band, I chose the route less likely to put me in jail and went on my merry way! I still love the stuff we did! some of which is on the Dot Creek myspace page above!

After a calming period and the need for something musically fresh I was fortunate enough to play for 3 years with Dublin based electronic band Halfset. We worked like lunatics to release our debut album Dramanalog | buy here | but the trip from Galway to dublin (500km round trip) for rehearsal eventually became too much and I had to leave the lads to carry on the good work, And so in the void I created Arketek.

The track "Abatoir Noises" from the album is being used currently by Bord Gais (Irish Gas board) for their TV and Radio Advertisements.

They are now on their second album and were short listed for the 2009 Choice Music awards.

Sounds Like: er, not sure, like a soundtrack I guess, most people have commented on the filmesque sound of some of the tracks. If you could place them in a movie it would be Lost in Translation maybe! I like to keep things simple and unclutterd mostly, like a sparse soundscape, We do rock out a lot more live but I like to think they'll help you sleep better!
