I am a music programmer at Listener Supported Community Radio in Tampa Florida, WMNF 88.5 FM and have been playing music on the airwaves since 1983. I am host of The Freak Show every Tuesday from 7-9 Pm EST playing all that great music from 1965 until ??? by all those artists that we all know and love. Whether it's psychedelic pop, pickin', British invasion, folk songs, singer songwriters, acid rock or what they call classic rock, it all has a home on The Freak Show. My love and passion for music has led me down the path to musical rightousness and having the chance to play music for other kind music lovers like myself is extremely rewarding.Growing up in New Jersey(Monmouth County)allowed me to be a part of the New York City / Philadelphia music scene which brought the best of everything my way. My first concert experience was in 1966 at Yankee Stadium when Paul Revere & The Raiders played between games of a Yankees - Red Sox double header and I haven't been the same since!!!Growing up in a house where the radio was always on also helped make me the music lover I am today. Listening to WABC-AM and then discovering WNEW-FM out of NYC and
WMMR-FM from Philly cemented my relationship with radio. Finding WMNF 88.5 FM in Tampa in 1980 made me realize how important radio is in my life and to be involved in it for so long now it certainly has become a big part of who I am.I have always been attached to the music made by the bands out of San Francisco and continue to enjoy the sounds of The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna, Jefferson Starship, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Big Brother and The Holding Company, Santana and all their members still creating magic today.I was a traveling DeadHead for many years and enjoyed many a show from the tapers point of view.I am an active taper still today and I am the person responsible for recording the concerts put on to benefit our wonderful community radio station here in Central Florida. Did I tell you about WMNF 88.5 FM !!!I have a wonderful family with a music loving wife (Anne, lucky me) and two teenagers each discovering their own musical identities.
