About Me

The Colorado Art Rock Society (C.A.R.S.) is a group of local Progressive Rock fans in the Colorado area. We meet the last Saturday of each month at 6:00pm at the Breckenridge Brewery in downtown Denver to meet fellow fans, listen to music, swap CD's, learn of local prog-related events and make new friends.
NEXT MEETING:
Saturday, May 30th at the Breckenridge Brewery in LoDo Denver, 7-10pm. (7:00 because of the Rockies home game).
SPECIAL GUEST: From Portland, OR, 2005 Grammy winner and 2006 International Fingerstyle Guitar champion Doug Smith.
Performance at 8:00pm.
Doug will be playing some prog covers as well as other covers and his own original compositions. Jeff Smith will be playing some tunes with Doug. Doug has some prog roots - while he was honing with fingerstyle guitar skills, he played in rock bands, focusing especially on the music of Genesis, Jethro Tull, Yes, and other progressive rock bands of the time. In the band he played mostly bass and some electric guitar.
We'll be playing CDs before and after Doug's performance.

If you are a progressive-oriented artist or band and wish to play Colorado, we may be able to help. Feel free to drop us a message here. C.A.R.S. has many members who are musicians and we have supplied back line equipment in the past. Some of the bands in our organization can sometimes help in supporting headlining acts. We also have good working relationships with some of the local independent venues around Denver.
