About Me

I'm far away and surrounded by Super Panchos, stray dogs, and grandmothers in tight outfits. I walk out of my door and out on the street there's a protest to support street vendors and artists. A woman explains it to me while people drum on trash cans and cars and sing a chant I don't understand - directed at the police on the street too. The cops leave and they sing something like - "They're gone, how happy now they're gone," and follow the police, harrassing them with the song.I walk a couple blocks away and I hear what sounds like jewish music. It's a street fair with a Klezmer band set up on a stage in the park. They play a Gogol Bordello song and people eat empanadas and matzoh, dancing in circles and clapping enthusiastically. The crowd in the subway station waits for the train and overhead tv's play pop music videos and commercials. The crowd is deceptively American-looking - west coast even. A mix of European and Amerindian ethnicities wear Etnies, Puma, and Converse - Levis and Urban Outfitter gear. They get on the train and they speak in Porteno Spanish. I'm far from a west or east coast.href="http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vcGhvdG9idWNr ZXQuY29t" target="_blank"

Boludo

Everything in Argentine slang has to do with male anatomy and cows. Analogies using cow anatomy praise a woman's figure and more than curse words, phrases that use male body parts have become quotidi...
