Tim Miller Band

About Me

Born and raised in South Georgia , Tim Miller enjoyed playing and singing at friends parties during high school and college. It was not until his final semester at The University of Georgia that he took the stage at Boar's Head Lounge and publicly performed for the first time. Singing into a microphone really changed things and he fell in love with the stage. For a while, it was an acoustic thing, playing whatever shows he could at local bars and various parties around Athens . About a year later though, Tim's act grew with the addition of Austin Jackson, who started joining him on stage. Austin, who started violin at age four, quickly wowed audiences from Athens down to South Georgia with a screaming fiddle. As the duo began to make a name for themselves, it was only a matter of time before they started adding members to create a full ensemble. Now, The Tim Miller Band is in full effect, and they love to perform for listeners throughout the State of Georgia and Southeast. ............................................................ ............................................................ ...... ............................................................ ............................................................ ......With a voice compared to Dierks Bentley, there's no denying that Tim's vocals anchor the band. His husky tones and insightful lyrics reflect on lonesome times in South Georgia, lost loves, and small-town life. It is evident that he has evolved as a writer. From his fun-loving, almost foolishly-optimistic "Drunken Dreams" (his first composition) to his very inward and private track entitled "Highway Queen" (his latest), Tim has realized how to transform raw emotion into moving lyrics. "I try to write about the life I know," says the fun-loving country-boy that is now carving out a new life in song. "When something grabs hold of me, or pisses me off, or makes me smile, I try to put that into song because I know others feel those same things. Relating to your audience is what country music is all about," says Miller. ............................................................ ............................................................ ........ ............................................................ ............................................................ ........ Expanding past Tim, the band draws on its life experiences as well as its musical influences. Austin 's love for '80s rock music somehow seeps into his fiddle, while Billy Koehler's bass lines demonstrate his affinity for blues and progressive rock. The addition of the smooth character of Jay Miller rounds off the group. The band combines the very diverse sounds that shaped their musical minds to create a truly unique experience for any audience. One listener states, "You will definitely hear hints of the great country acts-- Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Hank Junior--but you'll also catch sounds reminiscent of a hodge-podge of others, like Pat Green, The Drive-By-Truckers, Tom Petty, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Robert Earl Keen, Dierks Bentley, and Ryan Adams. Their eclecticism creates a fun show for most anyone, no matter their background." ............................................................ ............................................................ ..... ............................................................ ............................................................ .......The combination seems to be working, as the band is meeting the request of clubs and audiences seeking their music throughout the Southeast. "Expanding out of Georgia --into the Carolinas, Alabama, and Florida--has been the goal since the beginning," says drummer Corey Cottle, "and we're very excited that people are hearing about us and wanting us to come play."
