Evren has experience in the entire process of record production, from recording and mixing to mastering. He moved to Los Angeles from Michigan in his early 20s to further his skills as a musician. At the same time, he began working in studios to develop his music production abilities. He learned audio engineering at Paramount Recording in Hollywood, and by apprenticing at Guess Recording with Rudy Guess, longtime producer of Carole King. Notable awards/projects from this period are a platinum album for recording Montell Jordan's This Is How We Do It album, recording Carole King's Color Of Your Dreams album, and engineering recording sessions for Tupac Shakur, Tone-Loc, Mavis Staples, The Cult, Steve Vai, and General Public.
In 1995, Evren decided to apply his skills to mastering, and began working at Capitol Mastering. The particular critical listening that a recording engineer does is a cornerstone of Evren's mastering work, and he offers mix consultations as a pre-mastering service. Capitol's top producers began requesting Evren to re-master catalog albums. Among these are all seven of Queensrÿche's albums, all thirteen of Grand Funk Railroad's albums, and numerous albums from established artists including Lou Rawls, Iggy Pop, Pat Benatar (RIAA Gold - Greatest Hits), Heart, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, George Clinton, Poison (RIAA Gold - 20 Years of Rock), George Thorogood and Duran Duran. His experience with Rap and R&B music led him to master a string of Mariah Carey singles with Loverboy becoming a No. 1 hit, and earning him a gold record.
It is the combination of experience as a musician, recording engineer, and mastering engineer that gives Evren strong musical instincts, and enables him to master a variety of genres. Clients appreciate his friendliness and willingness to listen, while providing them with an exemplary final product. He fills up downtime by playing in his band Evil Maria, and ice hockey.
