Nick Danger & the DCR

About Me

Nick Danger and the DCR turn up the reverb to 11 and ladel on the tremolo. The titles and sound of songs like Mopar Radio and Malibu keep one foot in the instrumental rock of California but there's a Pixies-Dinosaur Jr. feel to some of Danger's discordant guitar tones. The EP ends with a moody cover of cult British popsters Television Personalities' Diary of a Young Man." - Andrew Carver, The Ottawa Sun
"brings to mind a laconic '78 era Elvis Costello and not dismissarily, a modish Van Morrison - "Mopar Radio" is "Brown Eyed Girl" for the Lambretta set. The final track "Malibu" may have good-timey, surf-oriented lyrics but there is an antithetically melancholic guitar figure running through it thats the mark of true genius." - Terry Banks, The Big Takeover
Nick Danger and the DCR are on tour again to support their upcoming release on thebeautifulmusic, spring 2008. Since their debut release in 2003, DCR has become a local indie favourite. Their last album "Escape from Danger City", which was produced by Phil Bova and featured Mike Dube of The Hilotrons/ Epiricles, was critical success placing DCR at 4 on CKCU and CHUO. Being the darlings of local indie label 'the beautiful music' has also garnished them international recognition, being by critics from New York to Brazil. They have been featured on releases with such legends as Nikki Suddden, Alan Mcgee and The Television Personalities. Gaining recognition by labels and artists in the UK and abroad.
2008 should be a banner year for DCR with two additional releases, a split 7” with label mates Skytone and a live CD recapping the last five years.
