Mo Matching Drapes grew out of the home recordings of Chris Brunelle and Paul Bates coupled with a desire to raise money for the local college radio station, WKNH 91.3FM out of New Hampshire. They played their first show in March of 1999 and immediately pursued the music scenes in Boston, Northampton, Providence, and New York City. They quickly landed an opening gig for The Samples and G. Love and Special Sauce. After a few years frequenting those scenes, MMD moved to NYC and released their first album, Mo Matching Drapes is the name of a band, on Please Buy Our Records which charted in the Top 30 steadily throughout college radio in North America and Canada.Continuing to play their New England haunts, Mo Matching Drapes started to establish themselves as fixtures in the East Village and Brooklyn Music scenes having played such notable establishments as Tonic, Southpaw, the Knitting Factory, and Carolines on Broadway. They served as house-band for the Patrick Borelli Awkward Theatre weekly comedy show at the Gershwin Hotel, which was a featured event in Time-Out NY. They got the attention of national media being covered on MTV News on TRL and NBCs Access Hollywood in the summer of 2004.During this time, MMD recorded a second album, which truly captures the bands songwriting and energy. the DANGEROUS friendly was released on Bang Pop! Records in November. Mo Matching Drapes have been and continue to be a group of four regular nice guys who write simple catchy tunes about honest feelings.
