I'm pretty much your typical nerd. I consider myself first a computer nerd, then a movie nerd, a sports nerd, and finally a music nerd. I have much pride in myself calling myself a nerd. I'm actually a pretty boring guy. I collect movies, compters, action figures, and guitars. I've been known to play some video games from timet to time, in fact back when I was in college, I played them competitively. Nowadays, I don't play as much as I use to, but still try to get an hour or so in a night or every other night.
I spend my life during the day working for the man being a Web Developer / System Administrator for a small family owned web shop in Cedar Rapids. I'm pretty much a jack-of-all trades when it comes to computers. I mainly do .NET and ASP.NET web applicaton programming with a touch of classic ASP, but I also do a little bit of PHP. I am a leetsauce SQL programmer, if I say so myself. I also do some video editing at home, and play around with other languages.
I consider myself to be a movie freak. I currently own over 600 DVDs. Out of that, about 180 of them are horror movies. I like any kind of horror movie; slasher, thriller, supernatural, asian, gory, cheesy, spoofs. You name it.
I like a many varities of music. Pretty much anything except pop music, new rap music/bar music and country. Pretty much everything else is fair game to me. I get a few weird looks at work from time to time, because one minute I'm listening to opera, like Andrea Bocelli or Josh Groban, and the next minute I'm "kicking puppies", as my co-worker likes to say when I'm listening to heavy heavy, european death metal. I go through genre phases. Classical, Blues, Hair Metal, Death/Black Metal, Opera, or Techno. It really depends on the day, as shown by my favorite artist list below a-la last.fm.
I've been playing the guitar for a few months now. I recently bought an electric guitar to the power chords sound like power chords. Playing Smoke On The Water just didn't sound the same on an acoustic.
I keep up on my baseball news regularly, even during the off season. I'm pretty good at rattling off stats, and player history for a lot of the active players in the MLB. I watch as many Chicago Cubs games as I can and I usually get to 1 or 2 in person games a year. As I mentioned above, I have a blog dedicated to baseball. I also play volleyball twice a week.
I've been married to the love of my life since October 2004. She and were high school sweethearts (awwwww). We had our first kid, Kaden on August 1, 2007. Currently, we have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 2 fish.
