About Me

Studying Media Production at Salford university was my first taste of what I generally refer to as 'Pissing about with video'. Whilst there, I made all kinds of pretentious crap which is (quite rightly) rotting away in a box somewhere and a couple of videos that still make me smile.
I made my first video promo for the song 'Gentle Storm' by Bamboo Soul in 2000. This seemed to go down pretty well when it was shown at the Kino film festival in Manchester. It then went on to be distributed with Flux magazine via the miracle of CD rom.
I produced a couple more videos for the band and these were eventually incorporated into their live act whenever anyone could get hold of a projector.
When the band went their separate ways in 2002 and my day job went it's own separate way shortly after. I got my first VJ residency with the Hip Hop night 'Subtub' at Band on the Wall Manchester, working with Broke 'n' English, DJ Woody, Tonn Piper and Sam Pepper amongst others.
Since then I've VJd for (amongst others), Mylo, Dead Prez, DJ Yoda, Eddie Halliwell, Aphrodite, Fabio and Grooverider, Batfinks, Clint Boon, DJ Scud, Richard Hillman, a Stereo MC and Terri Walker.
You may have also caught my visuals on the Late'N'Live stage at Glastonbury, The Snowbombing festivals in Les Arc, France and Myrhofen, Austria, the Showskills events in Manchester, Porto and Lisbon, Futuresonic and Eurocultured in Manchester.
The visuals I use are pretty eclectic and can range from spoof adverts to dancing cartoon characters to time lapse photography and still sequences. Forwards, backwards, fast, slow, all mixed together live or mixed with live shots of the night. However you want it. As long as it looks good, fits the mood and sits on the beat, that's the main idea.
Oh, and I can animate your logos, make new videos for and of whatever event you're putting on, use any footage or stills you already have and throw them in the mix too.
And yes, I've got a projector now. Get in touch if you want me to use it at your event.

Additional camerawork - Tim Jones and Tom Evans.

'Spending my Life' by Bamboo Soul (2002)

..

Created more as a visual for the Bamboo Soul live gigs than a stand alone promo. Spent bloody weeks getting all the footsteps onto beats.

'Didi' by Bamboo Soul (2002)

..

Didi by Bamboo Soul was written as a reaction to George Bush's dubious election 'victory' in 2000. The video never got finished due to complicated complications amongst the band members of the time. but I hope you enjoy the sentiment behind this cobbled together version.

Camera - Tom Evans.

Additional still images by Polyp.

Special thanks to Ben Hope, Didi Pattirane, Haydn Ruffley, Naomi Pattirane, Roger Wickham, Tim Jones, the Late Room Manchester.

Champions League Final.

Penalty Shoot Out. Moscow 08

Filmed from the United end

Crowd perspective filmed from the Manchester United end of the stadium . The penalty shoot out that decided the title. Warning. This video contains bad language and scenes of a grown man (Bands from the Stands producer Woody) crying like a girl.
Sorry. UEFA complained (miserable gits) and Youtube have removed it :( Find me on Facebook if you want to see it.
