Maneating Lemur

About Me

I enjoy ravenously devouring a diverse bunch of media -- movies, books, music, comics -- and talking about them with friends and getting new and exciting recommendations. I'm working on a screenplay and some stories (got started on a dare) and hopefully will turn out some cool riffs on familiar material. Also enjoy sports, love hockey, and am an incorrigible smartass. Look forward to meeting other smart-alecks and people with a sharp and caustic sense of humor online.

My Blog

You Just Move Laterally, Like the Insect You Are

Naglfar - Sheol : *** Pretty good death metal disc that could stand some more variation in the riffs used to propel the tunes, but a fun listen nonetheless. Abysmal Descent mixes up the tempos a bit a...

No Contact Inside the Compound

And now for another thrilling Lemur round-up of music and film. Dark Orchid - Kali Yuga: ***. It kinda seems like standard issue indie rock when it starts, but it's enhanced by swirling, distorted ps...

I'll Be Your Controller, Yes. Is That a Problem?

Silent Trigger: **. The mighty Dolph Lundgren stars as a sniper with serious performance issues in this action vehicle, set mostly in an unfinished skyscraper, mainly to evoke wistful memories of Die...

For Decades, They Get a Little Psychic Tickle

Sky High - *. Great, now I get to admit that I watched fucking Sky High of my own free will. I know it's a kid's movie, I know I'm not the target audience, but Jesus, look at Pixar or the Wallace and ...

They've Travelled Through Time and To the Ends of the Universe

Today's cinematic atrocity was The Marksman, a deliriously goofy war actioner starring Wesley Snipes. Crackingly bad dialogue, anemic set pieces and uniformly wooden performances made this a good bet...
