Chris has been devouring music every since he figured out how to power on the stereo. His parents being ex-hippies, he spent countless hours going through their vinyl collection. At age 13, he blew his fathers valuable stereo monitors, trying to see how far down the street he could hear his music. In high school, his basement room became a hangout amongst his peers. This is where Chris believes he really got his start as a dj, playing rare and groovy tracks for his friends. He first got his taste for electronic music while studying in Munich through an exchange program. A few years later, Chris spent a year in London, quickly developing a love for the English progressive sound. When he returned to his hometown, Boston, he became a fixture at Avalon. He started to make monthly trips to Montreal, where he tuned in to the funky beats of the lounges and the tech of the cavernous afterhours clubs. Shortly after, an impulsive purchase was made; his first set of turntables. Chris locked himself in his bedroom and absorbed himself in vinyl. Disenchanted with the lack of interest in electronic music in Boston, he picked up and moved to Miami. He landed a residency at Blue, a favorite local hangout. He became a well known local and has had residencies at Ink, Abraxas, China Grill, and Laundry Bar. He has been popping up at underground parties playing with the likes of Mark Verbos, Pheek, Justin Martin, Christian Martin, Worthy, Cue, Trent Cantrelle, and Stryke. Chris describes his music as “progressive tech”. “I’m not really into big build ups and lots of vocals. I prefer a gradual build of the night, something with some atmosphere”. Chris has been fine tuning his taste for as long as be can remember. It started with jazz, both standards and experimental. Anything with blue tones and minor scales always attracted him. The fearless no holds barred approach to experimental jazz inspired him. Miles Davis's 'bitches brew' was a landmark album in Chris's development. From jazz, he moved on to funk, a simplified version of jazz. This is where Chris first picked up the bass guitar, feeling the need to create those driving, earth-moving bass lines. Soon after, he started playing the didgeridoo. A single note sustained creates a hypnotic atmosphere according to him. These choices have clearly affected his djing. He is not one for lots of crescendos and quick changes. Expect to hear long transitions and a flowing vibe when he plays.
