Hey there peoples! Asha here, host of Channel 9's 'The Music Jungle', saturdays 10:30am. Bit of background, i was born in the UK and moved here when i was 8. Did most of my school and uni (BA Film Studies) in Brisbane and am now living in Sydney!
I started out performing from the age of 6 when my parents put my sister and i into piano lessons, it paid off as now i play piano, flute, guitar and sing.
My performing background kinda goes like this: Sang in the QLD state choir and performed at the opening ceremony of the 2001 Goodwill Games, used to sing in a Reggae band called 'The Screaming Jamaican' the highlight being touring around Vanuatu.
I started out as an extra in flims such as 'Scooby Doo' and 'Blurred' and appeared as a featured extra alongside the Veronicas in 'Cybergirl'. AFter a couple of years doing short films, hairmodelling and any tourist photos i could get in the background of, i got my big break in 2003 as one of the hosts on Channel 9 afternoon kids show 'Hot Source'. Two years later, i made the move to Sydney hosting the Disney Channels 'Studio Disney' which was an absolute blast! During that time i recorded a track for the CD Soundtrack for Hollywood Blockbuster movie 'Chicken Little' covering Carole Kings 'Its Too Late'. I also did a guest host stint on MTV's TRL for their awards show!
Fast forward to June 2006 and i had an awesome opportunity to host Fox8's 'CD:LIVE' with my funny freaky co-host Lowie, who is the voice behind the Hot30 radio show and the face of Fox8's 'Road to Rockstar'. Hosting the show alongside us is the one the only Molly Meldrum who needs no introduction!
And now in 2007 im back on Channel 9 hosting 'The Music Jungle' saturday mornings 10:30am and its my own show, woohoo!!
