CHILEAN METAL

PENTAGRAM is one of the earlier death/thrash bands from South America, formed in 1985 and recording several cult demos in the next couple of years before disbanding. Their style was pretty raw and primitive, even for the mid-eighties, yet they were undeniably influential on the Chilean scene, if not the entire South American extreme metal scene.
Technically they never recorded a proper album, as their discography consists of a compilation of demos and a live album (recorded at a reunion gig in 2001), both released many years after the band's initial breakup. Founder Anton Reisseneger later founded Criminal in the mid-nineties, and is still active in that band today.

TOTTEN KORPS was born in 1989 in Santiago de Chile. Their first demo was recorded at REC Studios in 1990, containing 4 songs, it was called "The King Of Hell Reclaims His Throne" and received a good response in the national underground scene. In 1993, after several shows through different cities in Chile, the band decided to record a second demo, "Our Almighty Lords", that included 5 songs and was released one year later as mini CD on the Brazilian label Hellion Rec..
This release gave the band a great renown in the underground scene worldwide. Some time later, the band suffers an important retreat due to some changes on its line-up. Then, in the year 1998, Fernando Toro and Gerardo Valenzuela (founder members of T.K.) decided to reform the band again, being the new line-up: Fernando T. (guitar), Gerardo V. (vocals), Francisco T. (guitar), Cristian Ortíz (bass) and Sergio Aravena (drums).
With this line-up the band got signed by REPULSE RECORDS and recorded their first album in the summer of that same year with such a disastrous production that both sides, band and label, decided not to release this recording.
Soon after, with Francisco and Gerardo out of T.K., Cristian Soto and Cristian Ortíz joined the band on guitars and vocals respectively, recording finally their first full-length album "Tharnheim: Ati-Lan-Nhi, Cyclopean Crypts Of Citadels" in January 2000.
SADISM begins its trajectory in 1988, performing lot of shows in Santiago, already having as main scenario the old and famous "Sala Lautaro" , which was considered as cradle of the band by its two founder members : Juan Pablo Donoso ( Drums ) and Ricardo Roberts ( Vocals ) . The first band's work on studios was in 1989, the debut demo called "PERDITION OF SOULS". It reaches a great popularity into the national and international scene, consolidating them like one of the best Death Metal bands in hole country. This recording sold near 3000 copies here in Chile as well as abroad.
A second demo arrives in 1991, "FROM THE PERPETUAL DARK", this tape makes the band signs with an independent label ; "TOXIC Records". The reason why ? , the recording of its first album, this one was called "TRIBULATED BELLS" (1992), including 9 tracks with some new arrangements and adaptations of both demo tapes 'songs. This album was played and shown by the band in a tour for many regions and places of the country, in that way including an international show in Lima (Peru) playing in front of 3000 fanatics.
After this tour SADISM enters to studios again , this time to record a Mini album called "DARKSIDE" under TOXIC records production too, achieving one of the rawest sounds for those years, This EP was recorded on September of 1993, DARKSIDE includes three songs on studio and another two live tracks. However, diverse problems arise in the band bringing as result the break and a partial separation of members about 3 years, adding to that the non-publication of this mini album.
