As a solo musician who can't sing very well, instrumental ambient music appealed to me the most. I get a picture in my head and then write a song around that picture. For instance, my newest song, "Staring At The Stars. Falling." I was sitting on the bus, thinking about laying in the mountains looking at the stars and thinking how incredible it would be to see a thousand shooting stars. A natural light show really. Granted if there were a thousand shooting stars... probably wouldn't be good. Anyway, when I get that picture in my head I have to translate it into music.
