I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

My name is Derek, and I am now sure what the heck I'm supposed to be doing. Right now, my focus is to finish school majoring in Computer Engineering. In the meantime, I've started to learn CNC Programming. Finally, something that has something to do with my major. Much better on a resume than "do you wish that broiled, steamed or fried." Originally, my goal was to be a professional photographer. I discovered rather quickly that to make it as an artist requires 90% sales skills and 10% technical ability. Since I am just the opposite, and I choose not to be a starving artist, I have decided that school is the best option. Photography will always be near me. In fact, my last project involved photographing all of the NAZI concentration camps in Europe. I spent a year doing Holocaust research and compiled a list of 100 concentration camps and 6 euthenasia centers. It is my hope to finish this project in the future. Art is my passion. It is a reflection of who we are and it has the ability to cause change. It's known to all of my friends that I absolutely love to travel. I've been able to visit most of the continental United States, Canada, Mexico, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland and Slovakia. If I ever have the opportunity, I'm moving to Europe.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I met him. Patrick Demarchelier, an extremely nice and talented fashion photographer. I would absolutely love to meet Paulina Porizkova. She is THE STANDARD. The shot Demarchelier took of her when she was pregnant is exceptional. I wish I could be in his shoes just for a day. Almost met Cesar Romero; however, I didn't realize who he was at the time (for many of those who would not know, he played the Joker on the Batman television series). It would be nice to meet Jimmy Carter (a true modern day humanitarian).
